May. 18th, 2021 03:25 pmManlin Widlawhe was born in the Black Shroud, to a family unit of Keepers of the Moon Miqo'te. Raised alongside her siblings, she was taught the way of the bow and became an archer, living as a hunter within the Shroud. She and her family endured the stigma against her kind on Gridania and its surroundings, with Manlin chafing under the prejudice that she and her people were poachers. It drove her to leave the Shroud, unable to endure this any longer, and to instead seek her fortune in wider Eorzea.
Her destiny changed when she befriended a fellow adventurer named Sayu, who introduced her to a group known as the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Though her initial interest was only in obtaining recompense for her contributions, she came to work with Sayu and the Scions on multiple occasions. When the group was split asunder by the machinations of Garlemald, Manlin helped Sayu and Alphinaud in their efforts to determine everyone's whereabouts, and continued on in helping stopping Gaius van Baelsar's plot with the Ultima Weapon and freeing the Scion Thancred from the control of the Ascian Lahabrea.
There were many more adventures Manlin endured, with herself always at Sayu, who became known as the Warrior of Light's side. Over time the two of them became very close, with the pair becoming more than simple companions, though their relationship is indeed complicated. And so they went, through more struggles with the Ascians, the defeating of the Heavensward, the liberation of Ala Mihgo, and many wore. In all these ventures, Manlin took up the way of the Bard, and took up several other jobs as well, expanding her skill set beyond that of archery—though that remained her primary focus.
As war with Garlemald began to loom on the horizon, Manlin found herself being pulled away from Eorzea, with her consciousness reawakening in the First, another shard of the multiverse where the power of Light threatened to overwhelm the entire world. Learning that she had been mistakenly pulled there by her connection to Sayu by a man known as the Crystal Exarch, she was... quite livid. However, knowing she had little to do but assist in stemming the overflow of Light, she took up the Exarch's cause, helping the Scions, who had also been brought to this land called Norvrandt. In particular, she journeyed with Y'Shtola to the Rak'tika Greatwood, where they lived with the Night Blessed of Silverbough for several years. Eventually, Sayu herself was called to the First, and she and Manlin were reunited.
